REFLEXOLOGY
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Your Questions, Answered
What should I expect at my first appointment?
I will ask you about your medical history, lifestyle, current health and some more general information so I can design a personalised treatment plan to best suit your needs. You will also be asked to sign a consent form. All information will be kept strictly confidential. A full treatment will be given after the consultation.
How long do treatments last?
Treatments for foot reflexology are approximately 45-60 minutes with the first being longer to account for the consultation.
How many sessions will I need?
How many treatments you need or want and the frequency of these will depend on whether you have a specific problem or whether you are looking to maintain good health. Many people start with weekly or fortnightly treatments and often decrease to monthly “top up” treatments later on. As a general rule, a course of about 6 treatments is advised for clients to feel the benefit.
What should I wear?
It is recommended that you wear casual clothing that allows you to comfortably relax. You will be asked to remove your shoes and socks. After you have been reclined in a chair, you will be provided with pillows and blankets to ensure that you are comfortable and supported throughout the treatment.
How will I feel afterwards?
Unfortunately, there is no single answer as everyone can react differently. However, most clients feel relaxed and calm and I often hear that they have slept well after a session. You may feel:
-
A bit ‘heady’ later on as though you are getting a cold but this will only last a short time and is a good indication that the treatment has had a positive effect and toxins are moving out of the body.
-
Have a headache
-
Notice a change in body temperature
-
Need to visit the loo more frequently
-
Emotional or psychological release
-
Feel tired
Can anyone receive a reflexology treatment?
Almost anyone can receive holistic treatments and enjoy the benefits. However, there are a few contra-indications which mean it might not make it suitable for someone to have a treatment. We will discuss this in advance of your first treatment and we can discuss an appropriate course of action if necessary.
